Local at Your Co-op
The Marquette Food Co-op is committed to building local food networks and supporting local growers, farmers, and artisans by:
- Developing a “Think Local First” campaign
- Selling local products at or less than national cost (Look for the green tags in our store)
- Publishing a directory of U.P farms that sell directly to consumers
- Hosting an annual Farm Forum to connect farmers with the public
- Sponsoring Annual Farm Tours
- Giving presentations to schools and service groups about the importance of buying local
- Developing a “Co-op Preferred” program that includes annual site visits, written farmer declaration of practices/standards and “Co-op Preferred” designation products
- Offering workshops on how to grow your own food
- And so much more
