Co-op Month
Each October, National Co-op Month celebrates the many ways cooperatives create shared prosperity for their owners and their communities. Along with celebrating Co-op Month, this year, we are commemorating our 10 year anniversary at our 502 W. Washington location!
When you become a Co-op owner, you’re supporting your local economy, the environment, community wellness, and much more. Click here to learn more about owner benefits and to sign up online. To hear about Co-op ownership directly from your friends and neighbors, browse the hashtag #MFCowners on Facebook and Instagram.
We have special offers and events this month to thank everyone who has supported the Co-op as a shopper, owner, employee, or board member. Thank you for supporting your community-owned grocery store for 53 years!
Take 10% off your shopping trip
Co-op owners may apply a 10% discount on one shopping trip of their choice in October.
Get a special bonus when you refer a friend
Through October, we are doubling our ownership referral bonus. Refer a friend to become a Co-op owner and receive a $10 Co-op gift card.
Grab a 10-year anniversary new owner bags
The first 50 new owners in the month of October will receive a special new owner welcome bag filled with local treats! Along with a MFC Mug, the bag will include tea samples from Young Mountain Tea, a travel pour over coffee sample from Velodrome Coffee, and a mini honey bear from GT’s Bees.
Earn a full equity plan bonus
If you become an owner through our full equity payment plan, you will earn a $10 gift card as a thank you from the Co-op.
Participate in the MFC pie contest
We know that Co-op shoppers are among the best cooks and bakers in the U.P. Now is your chance to show off your skills!
Drop off your best apple pie at the Co-op between 8-10am that Saturday for our panel of judges to taste-test each entry. Across three categories–vegan, gluten-free, and general entry–judges will rate pies on taste, appearance, and creativity. Afterward judging is over, everyone is welcome to try the pies.
All entries must come with a recipe, and their tins should be labeled with the contestant’s name and a phone number. Anything that isn’t properly labeled or is not an apple pie will not be considered.
Every contestant will receive a $5 gift card for participating. Winners in each category will receive a $50 gift card, while the overall Best Apple Pie Winner will receive a $100 gift card and have their recipe featured in our newsletter and on our social media.

Join the Board of Directors as the nomination period begins
Being a cooperative grocer means we are a democratically-operated business. To help lead the Co-op, a Board of Directors is elected to offer long-term goals, act as trustees on behalf of ownership, and ensure management of the Co-op.

Enjoy a slice of 502 anniversary cake
Join us in the Co-op on October 18 from 11am-1pm for a free piece of cake to celebrate 10 years at our 502 location. We will serve slices of carrot cake and vegan chocolate cake fresh from the Marquette Baking Co.
