The Marquette Food Co-op provides access to organic and wholesome products; we’re also dedicated to providing education about food and related issues that will support a healthy, diverse, and sustainable community. Whether the class covers creating an Indian dinner, eating healthy on a budget, or beginning bee keeping, you can expect a welcoming atmosphere with friendly, knowledgeable instructors.
Unless otherwise noted, events are hosted in the Co-op classroom, located in the basement of the store. Prices vary according to the time and materials needed. Read on to learn more about our programming, or click the link below to see the current offerings.
Public Cooking Classes
Our public cooking classes are open to anyone, and are often taught by experienced cooks from the community. These classes run September through May and are offered at affordable prices to give more people access to food education. In the summer, you’ll find us area farmers markets, where we share how to use the freshest local ingredients.
Getting To Know Your Co-op
Getting to Know Your Co-op classes are offered quarterly — the second Wednesday of the month in January, April, July, and October — in our classroom located in the lower level of our Co-op. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this free class, regardless of Co-op membership. An overview of our Co-op, a comprehensive store tour, samples, and a Q&A period are all included. Call 225-0671 x701 or register on Humanitix to join an upcoming session. Open to everyone. Bring a friend. Everyone receives a $5 gift card!
Private Cooking Classes, Presentations, & Tours
In addition to our classes, we offer customized presentations to fit your needs. These may include cooking classes, store tours, or specialized presentations. Whether you are a teacher looking to augment a lesson or an employer looking for something special to offer staff, we can help.
To support food education for all children, we offer food demonstrations and nutrition presentations to area schools at a low cost or for free when necessary.
For best availability, schedule your event with us three months in advance.
