Healthy Eating on a Budget: Winter

January 18, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

People are always asking us here at the Co-op about how to eat healthy but not break the bank. At this class we’ll explore several ways to do just this.  You’ll hear some quick tips and easy recipe plans from the MFC Outreach Director Sarah Monte and have a chance to ask questions and learn from others in the group.  This class includes a cooking demonstration emphasizing seasonal produce, a store tour that highlights our cost-saving bulk section, and the new “Co-op Basics” program.  Cooking at home is the best way to both save money and enrich your family’s diet with whole foods, and we’re here to help make it simple and even fun!

Free for Co-op owners, $5 for all others

Preregistration and payment is required to reserve a space in this class. This is a class that repeats quarterly, with the food demonstrations that change with the season.

FAQs

How do I pay with cash or check?

To pay with cash or check, simply choose the “pay at the door” option. You are still required to prepay for cooking classes, so be sure to visit the Marquette Food Co-op Customer Service Desk to pay at least 24 hours before the class. The Co-op reserves the right to give away spots that are unpaid by the deadline.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

We love it when people bring kids to the classes! But we also want to know they’re coming so we can be ready. Children 10 and up should be registered and paid through Eventbrite just like an adult. Children under 10 can attend with a guardian for free. When you register with Eventbrite you’ll notice a discount code for children so you can register them without charges. We reserve the right to ask you not to bring children if we feel the content is not appropriate.

Our educational classes are usually free for children, though some classes may have a materials fee regardless of the child’s age.

For any class, there is no need to register infants or toddlers, though a phone call would be appreciated so we can have some fun stuff for your little one ready. Some classes may not be appropriate for young children. Contact Sarah at 906-225-0671 ext. 723 if you want to give us a heads up, or simply have questions about the class content.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

smonte@marquettefood.coop or 906-225-0671 ext. 723

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Sure. But if you send someone in your place to the class, please have them bring your ticket.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you do not have to bring your printed ticket to the event. If you choose to pay cash or check, please bring your ticket or confirmation email to the Marquette Food Co-op customer service desk so they know you are registered. If you can’t attend and want to give your ticket to someone else, it is nice for them to bring it to the event.

What is the refund policy?

We always prefer 24 hours’ notice for our classes, but there is no problem if you don’t make it to one of our free educational classes.

For cooking classes, where we have to purchase ingredients ahead of time, refunds will only be guaranteed for cancellations with 24 hours’ notice. Additionally, if you haven’t paid within 24 hours, we will assume you are not coming and your spot will be given to someone on the waiting

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?

Yup. If you want to give your ticket to someone else, that’s fine with us.
