Wasted! Documentary Screening/Panel Discussion

In honor of Earth Day, the Marquette Food Co-op is hosting a public screening of the documentary “Wasted! The Story of Food Waste” from Executive Producer Anthony Bourdain.

The film will run from 6:30-8 p.m., and will be followed by a panel discussion/Q&A.

On the panel (led by the Marquette Food Co-op):

Before and after the screening, visit with/learn about our other participating businesses and organizations. Velodrome Coffee Company will be serving coffee and Simply Superior Catering & Events/NMU Dining will be offering samples of food items. Other participants include Food Recovery Network – Northern Michigan University, MQT Growth and Taste The Local Difference.

This event is intended to highlight the issue of food waste and to give attendees and opportunity to learn what local businesses and organizations are doing to address it. Attendees will also be provided with information to reduce their own carbon footprint and keep waste out of the landfill.

The screening is free and open to the public, however, donations are appreciated to help offset the cost of the film screening. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME, but this film does contain adult language.

Through the the eyes of chef-heroes like Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, audiences will see how the world’s most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system.

WASTED! exposes the criminality of food waste and how it’s directly contributing to climate change and shows us how each of us can make small changes – all of them delicious – to solve one of the greatest problems of the 21st Century.”
